With every change of season comes the opportunity to buy a new wardrobe. One of my favorite seasons to shop for is Fall. If you live in a part of the country that gets a bit cooler and chilly, Fall gives you an opportunity to break out the scarves, hats and boots, or at the very least it signals the start of jeans and sweater season. It can feel like your wardrobe gets old fast when you start seeing all the advertisements and billboards for new Fall fashions, making you feel like you want to completely revamp your closet. If you are like me, you do not exactly have the cash flow to be making big purchases like that. There are ways that you are able to make your wardrobe feel fresh and new without going overboard and while still keeping your bank account in mind. After years of trying to keep it in check when seasonal shopping fever hits, I have come up with a few ways to still shop without blowing your budget.
Evaluate All Your Options
Before going out and hitting the mall or sitting down for an online shopping spree, take a look at what you already have in your closet. There is a good chance that many of the pieces that you may believe are outdated or feel worn are able to be saved with a little bit of creativity. When you think about it, many of the current trends are recycled from past decades. The idea that fashion is ever fresh and new is not really accurate based on this theory. It might be helpful to create several piles of clothes to really organize things before you even start shopping. Think about your clothes, shoes, and accessories in four ways: Keep, Trash, Donate, To Be Determined. The items that end up in the to be determined pile will eventually end up in one of the other three piles depending on how much you are already keeping. Going through everything you have in this way can help you decide what type of pieces you do want to shop on what you will be wearing them with.
Shop Out of Season or Sale Prices
The first place you should be looking are stores that have low prices on top of regular sales like Kohls. These types of stores will have the styles you are looking for at prices you can afford. Other great options are thrift stores, online shopping, consignment shops, and other stores where you can find second hand items that still have a lot of use left in them. I can be helpful to go online and see if certain stores have what you are looking for so you don’t waste money or time going all over the place.
Be Willing to Trade
Have you ever held a clothing swap? If not now might be the time to try it. These can be a great way to get friends together but to also revamp your wardrobe at practically no cost.
It’s great to have a killer shoe collection. However, it is hard to know what to buy and what should be the staples of your collection. But, here are some tips to help turn you into a savvy shoe shopper with a collection of shoes to be truly proud of.
Get both your feat measured when unsure as to what shoe size you are. A lot of people out there have one foot that is longer than their other one. Try finding a pair of shoes that will fit your longer or larger foot perfectly in order to be comfortable.
Do not fall prey to the concept of breaking shoes in. Many people think that shoes should be broken in to feel comfortable. It usually doesn’t work out this way. Many times, shoes feel great when you wear them the first time. If you don’t really like a pair when you first try them on, then don’t get them.

You do not need to have too much makeup in your kit. Pick products in some seasonally appropriate colors that you like. Think about what you will require for work and for downtime.
